Truly's Rainy Day in London Town

Truly is across the pond.  It's raining in London, but that will not stop Truly from enjoying the day.

My original photo taken in 2008 in London of the magnificent Tower Bridge.   Some careful editing and layer mask enabled me to insert Truly in this photo.  The addition of a Topaz Lab filter and thoughtful cropping really enhanced the composition.

Warm Nights...

This week's Texture Tuesday word prompt is "warmth".

My husband and I always go down to the gulf on Saturday nights for a little beach picnic and stroll along the shore.  I had my new camera with me (of course!) and started shooting.  This lady was totally unaware that she would be my blog cover girl this week.

Truly Showing Off...

It's a beautiful day on the Gulf of Mexico in the Florida Panhandle.  The sun is shining in a cloudless sky.  The waters are calm and Truly is showing off!

1955 Chevy

This photo collage was a challenge.  My original photo was taken on a beach in Destin FL a couple of weeks ago.  The water and sandy beach on the left side of the photo was duplicated and then added to the original photo.  The clone stamping tool was a big help smoothing out the sand and surf.   The tow rope was cut from a bit of clip art.  Assorted brushes used to create the wake.

Let There Be Light...

"Light" is the word prompt for this week's Texture Tuesday.  The first thing that came to mind was a light bulb.  (I take things literally!)

Most of us think Thomas A. Edison invented the light bulb.   Au contraire - The first light bulb was built by Humphry Davy (an Englishman) in 1809.   Thomas Alva Edison improved the invention and based his improvements on a patent he purchased from inventors Henry Woodward & Matthew Evans who patented their bulb in 1875.

This photo is one of my first taken with my new Nikon D3100 DSLR camera.  I shoot in the raw!

Truly Weighing In

Looks like I am not the only one weighing in daily.  It's a curse I tell you - a curse!   (Egad! I am older than this car too.)

I garnished this old scale my parent's home when my sibs and I were clearing their place out.

Beach Walk

The beaches around Destin FL are fabulous.  The sand is powdery white.  The water a fantastic blue.  Our friends joined us for a beach walk.  We simply had to remove our shoes to enable us to enjoy the sand sifting between our toes!

gorgeous beach - wonderful friends!

20th SE Regional Juried Exhibition

This past Sunday, my husband and I attended the opening reception of this exhibition in Niceville, FL.  The Mattie Kelly Gallery is located on the campus of Northwest Florida State University.

I have two pieces in the exhibit and am thrilled to tell you that "Gossip Girls" was awarded 1st Place.  I received a monetary award and the opportunity for a solo exhibition of my work in the gallery in 2013.

To see all of the artwork in the exhibit go HERE.

Truly is a Pretty Girl

Truly and I wish all of you moms a very Happy Mother's Day.   We hope your day is filled with fun and laughter.  If your children and grandchildren live far away, we hope you get phone calls, cards and good wishes.  Enjoy your special day - you deserve to be pampered!  (I'll bet you didn't know Truly is a mom too - today anyway.)

Truly Enterprising

You may not know this, but Truly has dreamt of working with NASA.   "Space shuttle Enterprise arrives at New York airport."  That was the headline of a featured story in my local daily newspaper.  The dream has finally come true!

I took one of my own photos of NYC and combined with my photo of the 1956 Packard and, of course, the Enterprise.
